October Challenge 1 Fasteners

  What Is a Fastener? Let’s start by defining what a fastener is. The term fasteners encompasses a fairly broad category of tools, such as screws, nuts and bolts, that share a common purpose: to mechanically hold objects together. Of course, things like glue can fulfill this function, but glue is not a type of fastener. Therefore, we need to add to our definition. Hardware fasteners mechanically hold objects together. Typically, fasteners form a non-permanent joint. In other words, when you use a fastener to connect two components, you can remove it, and the separate pieces should come apart without suffering any damage. The same wouldn’t be the case with a welded joint, for instance. The one exception to this rule are rivets, which fall under the category of fasteners, but create permanent joints. Though most fasteners form a non-permanent joint, this does not mean you only use fasteners when you want to be able to take something apart, and it doesn’t mean the joint is weak by any m

Wind! The wind can do some good things too  ;) Sumboddies flwag is twangled all up!   Barking dogs every time you ride by Wheel jamming drain grates Broken glass in the street Refuse containers that jump out of the way of incoming material Discarded stuff in ditches Loose gravel on a sealed road That someone drug out of their drive Patches of mud and rocks tracked onto the road and now compacted Nice Ford Focus with damage that was never repaired Very thick loose crushed stone where a repair was made 2 bicycles at JR's Recycling And another Bridge Graffiti  Free Mountain Bicycle  -- not really a peeve -- hope someone can make use of it Rusted out rocker panel Bicycles left out in the weather Throwing stuff in the North Fork Cracks in the road that make for a bumpy ride Tilted Road sign, Stop sign used for target practice Here is one for Greg "Limited Cleaning --- Use Appropriate Precautions" As in , , , , that thicket behind the Garceau may be more appealing?

Raleigh Goes Rolling

Very nice VW cc ready to roll into someone's garage Spare wheel always a good idea -- wheel and axle lever there too Fork Lift can roll where needed Bread cart? Behind a grocery store Grave Yard for shopping carts Frito-Lay rolls their chips to the store Lubed up the Raleigh's chain here  😀 "If you got it, it came on a truck" Bowling Alley sign  -- stopped to roll a few gutter balls Reel Lawn mower (sans fishing rod and reel) North Fork not quite rolling along Rolled an incredible 5.3 miles at this point   ðŸ˜‰ Trash Tote rolls much easier than lifting or dragging Raleigh rolls toward home  

River to Rail Ride
