Diamond Back @ Kennekuk County Park

Beautiful day for mid March -- temperature in the mid 70's -- and of course windy, but that is just the accepted norm for now Road leading into the park Far north end of the park with Lake Mingo in the distance Mallard Point Shelter View of the lake from Mallard Point   Spike of fire when backlit by the sun Of course by the time I got there the sun clouded over  :( Adrian Pond in the back ground Lorrence Pioneer Cemetery at Adian's Pond Just a hint of green beginning to appear Glacially flattened boulder Also the norm, Blogspot has it own ideas of where to put photos and no amount of, uh, "encouragement" will make it change its cyber mind. Oh well  . . . ..

Downtown Demolition

Image
Having served its purpose for over 100 years, the time has come . . . . A large portion of a downtown city block is being demolished Long abandoned and seriously deteriorated the section was once a center of thriving businesses Work is progressing westward with 2 more buildings to go Alley view looking east A building collapse south of the demo area has been cleared View south from Main Street This area was once housed a clothing store and drug store, and a small department store where my Huffy was purchased in 1973 Site of former business The building to the right is also slated for demolition Once completed, the demo area will look like this, planted to grass, and possible site of new businesses ---Yeah, Right  :)

Zippy makes his way back into the light of day Very well packed and protected Beginning to take shape There he is in full form I'm 6'2 and actually fit very well  Folding practice -- really, quick and easy The color appears rather red in the photo -- actually its more of a reddish orange Pumped up the tires and ready to go! As BikemanforU once said "We don't blow up tires, we inflate them" A few short rides around the block or two And a very happy Rich! This is the base model and so lacks some refinements of the
