Simple Machines/Bicycles



Simple machine, any of several devices with few or no moving parts that are used to modify motion and the magnitude of a force in order to perform work.

Examples:   Lever --  Wheel and Axle --  Pulley --   Inclined Plane--   Wedge -- and a Screw




The bicycle consists of combinations of several types of simple machines
If transferring forced is accepted in the definition of a simple machine, the slanted tubes of the bicycle frame may, repeat, may, be regarded as inclined planes


The handlebars, steerer and fork represent a wheel and axle

Quick release is operated by a lever
Cable is secured with a screw as is the brake block
