Cheneyville
Cheneyville was founded in 1871 just 3 miles east of the Illinois/Indiana border
Named for JH Cheney Vice President of the Lake Erie and Western Railroad
After several iterations, the railroad still exists as the Kankakee Beaverville and Southern
KBS terminates at Cheneyville going west -- goes north to Kankakee, south to Danville, and east to Lafayette, Indiana
The primary function of the town initially was the grain elevator located along the railroad

Apparently things went well for Cheneyville, a telephone system installed in 1888 had to be expanded due to demand
Elevator stood for decades, razed in 2019
Bridge over the North Fork outside of Cheneyville
Very same bridge photographed by Bill on his 2011 ride to Virginia
Southbound approaching 'downtown' Cheneyville
Established in 1891 and still going
Break time here and a little exploration of the grounds
2 Raleighs and 2 metal rockers
Rockers tend to get a tad bit warm on a hot sunny day
Interesting gnarled tree in the background
Still planting some fields
Mulberry tree with large spread of roots
Huge separation is opening in the trunk
One storm away from coming down all or in part
Deep inside the hollow
Grand Street (one of 3 in town)
View north Grand Street
<------- Indiana is 3 miles that way
Short stint on IL Rte 9 and back to township roads
A moraine and fields seen on the way back west to town
Antioch Road going south to4000N
That is a concrete culvert! OLD
Much the same scenery all the way back to town
Beautiful day, great ride, and a good time
